How do you think work-life balance impacts performance and productivity in job at senior levels.

As a leadership coach, I often come across senior-level professionals struggling to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

The pressure to meet targets and deliver results at the C-suite level can be intense, like running a marathon with a backpack full of bricks.

However, this pressure can have a detrimental effect on both performance and productivity, like a car running on low fuel.

One of the biggest challenges senior professionals face today is the blurring of boundaries between work and life. With the rise of digital and remote working, it can be difficult to disconnect from the job’s demands, like trying to separate oil and water. This can lead to burnout, stress, and fatigue, which can negatively impact job performance, like a computer with too many open tabs.

To combat this, they need to prioritize their well-being and take steps to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This can include setting clear boundaries between work and personal time, making time for hobbies and interests, and engaging in regular self-care practices; even a small act like watering a plant can be a stress buster.

Another effective strategy is to set realistic and achievable goals, like climbing a ladder one step at a time. Rather than trying to meet unrealistic targets and expectations, focus on developing measurable and achievable goals that align with the Organization’s objectives. This can help to reduce pressure and stress and promote a sense of accomplishment and fulfilment, like hitting a bullseye.

Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential to perform at their best, like a well-tuned instrument. By setting clear boundaries, establishing realistic goals, and prioritizing self-care, professionals can reduce stress, improve productivity, and ultimately achieve tremendous success in their careers.
